Salina Rahim

Although a professional fashion designer, Salina Rahim still finds it important to serve her community, and Ms. Rahim is just one of the many members who volunteer their time to the American Red Cross organization. The American Red Cross is well known for offering aid across the world in many different forms. Shelters for the homeless, first aid to victims in need, emergency preparedness, and an organization-long dedication to keeping people safe with the help of caring and loving volunteers, like Salina Rahim, are only some of the various programs and forms of help the American Red Cross provides.

As part of several community organizations that must work together in responding to disasters, the Red Cross matches individuals with a variety of skills, interests, knowledge and experiences so that they may better serve their respective communities. In fact, other events within our communities that go unnoticed for example are those such as abandoned pets. There are no real statistics for how many pets are abandoned annually, but those that do not become feral or die of disease and starvation often end up in local animal shelters, of which nearly 77% of them must be euthanized.

Ms. Rahim helps her community further by volunteering her time at her local Animal Shelter to help all the abandoned animals find a good home. Her desire and need to help does not end there, however. In addition to helping people in the community by volunteering at the American Red Cross, or helping abandoned or lost pets by volunteering at the Animal Shelter, Ms. Salina Rahim is also a member of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), the largest animal rights organization in the world with more than 2 million members and supporters.
