At the end of this period, David Woodmansee transferred to San Diego State University and continued his academic pursuits in the sciences. Under the tutelage of Professor Patrick J. Walsh, David Woodmansee honed his interests in biochemistry and graduated from San Diego State University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Upon graduation, David Woodmansee remained at San Diego State University to complete his Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry. From 1998 to 2000, David Woodmansee continued working with the Walsh Research Group and developed a proficiency in a wide range of disciplines. In addition, David Woodmansee earned an internship with Agouron Pharmaceuticals (since merged with Pfizer Incorporated), providing him a window into the professional world of pharmaceutical research. Sometime after earning his graduate degree from San Diego State University, David Woodmansee pursued research in several different locations. Later he joined the Genomics Institute for the Novartis Research Foundation in La Jolla, California, where he was active in drug discovery research. During this post-collegiate period, David Woodmansee also spent time as a researcher for the biotech and automated discovery platform company Ontogen in Carlsbad, California. In 2006, David Woodmansee relocated to Basel, Switzerland, to pursue doctoral studies in Organic Chemistry at the University of Basel. In these endeavors, David Woodmansee works on the research team of Professor Andreas Pfaltz, teaches classes in chemistry, provides oversight for master’s candidates, and conducts independent research projects. Commanding expertise in medicinal chemistry, automated methods of research, combinatorial chemistry, numerous disease indications, and more, David Woodmansee has collaborated with fellow scientists on 11 articles in scholarly journals and 6 patents over the years.
