An enthusiast of classical and Hellenic studies, Michael Clauser studied abroad for a semester in Athens, Greece while enrolled as an undergraduate at Pennsylvania State University. After receiving degrees in philosophy and religious studies and a minor in Classics, Michael Clauser returned to Europe as a graduate student. Michael Clauser took advantage of the dual degree program at the University of Exeter’s Centre for European Studies (now the Center for European Governance) to complete Master’s degrees in Internationals Relations and European Studies. Michael Clauser is currently a candidate for a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. Michael Clauser’s favorite books include The History of the Peloponnesian War by Thucydides and The Republic by Plato. Michael Clauser currently resides in Washington, D.C., pursuing a career as a national security professional. He previously served in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs and in the Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of the Navy. In March 2009, he became a National Security Legislative Assistant in the House of Representatives. In that capacity, Michael Clauser supported a senior Congressman in developing legislative initiatives and policies for issues including the military, homeland security, foreign affairs, and NASA. Michael Clauser remains professionally affiliated with numerous organizations, including the Association of the United States Army, the Air Force Association, the Navy League of the United States, and Young Professionals in Foreign Policy. Michael Clauser is also a published author of academic articles and blogs at www.michaelclauser.com. As a painter and an art enthusiast, Michael Clauser belongs to the 1869 Society at the Corcoran Gallery of Art.
