Norvin Landrum began his graphic design career as a museum exhibit technician, but has since risen to the top of his industry, owning and operating his own graphic design firm, Global Empire Graphics. Landrum still enjoys going to museums, and maybe his early work setting up art and history exhibits also contributed to his current affection for treasure hunting and gold prospecting. Norvin’s other hobbies include hiking and camping, but he has a lot less time for those since he began running Global Empire Graphics. As owner and operator of the business, Norvin Landrum handles both the management and contracts for the company, as well as specific design work and copywriting.
Still in a relatively early stage of growth, Global Empire Graphics has already completed significantly discounted work for nonprofit organizations, emphasizing Landrum’s dedication to philanthropy and community involvement. Despite his management and design skills, Mr. Landrum’s position at Global Empire Graphics is a sharp contrast from his previous experience.
Before joining Global Empire Graphics in January 2008, Landrum taught graphic design and digital imaging at Edmonds Community College in Washington. During his four year stint as assistant instructor in the multimedia vocational program, Norvin Landrum lectured students on various computer programs that would help them in the graphic design industry. However, Landrum was more than just another teacher. Landrum helped assist students in grant completion and volunteered his own time for community projects and in the process completed two AmeriCorp grants.
Landrum earned his BA in Graphic Design from Western Washington University, where he studied from September 2000 to June 2003. Before attending Western Washington University, Landrum earned his AS transfer degree from Whatcom Community College. While taking classes at Whatcom, Landrum experimented with banner and poster designs for special college events, and even organized student art shows. During the bulk of his exploration into higher education, Landrum worked as an Exhibit Technician at the Whatcom Museum of History and Art, where he helped install and manage various historical exhibits and fine tune his design eye in preparation for future entrepreneurial success.
